Huge Culvert In My Backyard

Building Begins

The process of getting ready to build your own home is a tedious one, and waiting is the name of the game.  We applied for building permits, and waited.  Then we applied for a water usage permit so that we had water on the property for construction purposes such as pouring concrete, and waited.  But, as you can see the water spout is in, and if that isn't exciting enough we just found out we have our building permits too!  Whoo hooo!

So, what is all this?  Well, we have this huge drainage culvert in the back of the lot, so we applied for a permit to cover it.  After some hemming and hawing on the part of the engineer who came out to the property to see just exactly what it was we wanted to do, the permit was granted.  Now we have to lay pipe for the drainage water to continue to flow through the culvert.  When the excavator comes, he'll push dirt over this area.  Is that cool or what?!  No more huge culvert sticking up, and my backyard looks like a backyard instead of a drainage field.  I'm a happy girl.
