Update on the Building Project

I have been asked why there are no more updates on the house. To catch you up, let me explain that we are waiting on roof trusses to be delivered and set up. Ron has been busying himself with odds and ends jobs, and with ordering materials, and with a few other things that need to be done. The trusses were suppose to be here this weekend but they are delayed a week. Delays are normal when doing construction like this, so we just put ourselves into "chill" gear, and wait it out in the coming week. When the trusses do arrive, it will be "hurry up" time to get the roof on before the next heat wave or set of storms. I will be so glad when Ron is under cover or the rest of the building process.

In the meantime, one of the ordering items was for the windows and doors. I had to pick out all of them, and that was a little scary, to tell the truth. I don't know if I picked out the right things for the house style, I am just going to hope I did. I also had to pick out hardware because the door has hinges attached. I picked pewter.

And, now I'm going to share this lovely plate with you that I saw at Kohls. I want it in my kitchen. I love it! Barns are so inviting, don't you think?

So, that's about it for this post. Sorry it's short and I don't have more. Hopefully in a week I"ll have lots of pics for you, of the roof going up. And, oh, I almost forget to tell you that I also had to pick out the roof color. I didn't pick brown or red or gold. I picked black and grey mix. Now, what exterior colors goes with that color of roof? If you have any ideas about that, please share in the comments. I need help with colors.

Thanks for stopping by. Love ya all.

It's a Wrap!

Hi Friends!  Ron's been working on odds and ends jobs lately.  One of those jobs includes the house wrap.  We're waiting on roof trusses now, and then the roof can go on, after which we will add windows and doors, and put up the siding.

I saw something red land in this backyard tree.  It's a cardinal!  So pretty.

And then I saw this.  I asked Ron what happened to this tree.  He said it seems to be top heavy.  We may lose it.  Whah.

And, that's about it for this post, folks.  I hope the roof trusses come early.  We're ready for them.

Take care, Everyone.  Have a wonderful Father's Day!  Happy Father's Day to Ron!

Love ya, Honey!

Changes

Hi Friends.  The inside walls are going up, and changes are being made.  Nothing major, just small changes that help the flow.  Why now?  Because we can see more clearly with walls going up.

So, we moved the refrigerator, and one kitchen wall, giving us two extra feet and in the process,  as well as matching up a beam. We made the guest bath 6 inches smaller and added the space to the guest bedroom.  That's all.  Really.  I hope.   lol.

I love this view from the garage.  So fun to see hallways and rooms coming together.

Thanks for coming by again.  Have a wonderful day.  Blessings Everyone!

Stone and Wood; The Back Patio Is Coming Together

Hi Friends.  Our neighbors Gretchen and hubby (cannot remember his name since we just met) came over to see us last evening, because they wondered what we were building outside the house.  "Just a covered patio,"  Ron said . . . . and then I added, "with two fans for cooling us off in the warm summer night air."  They thought that was a fabulous idea, which makes four of us now.  And I just had another fabulous idea because I'm thinking of putting a fan in the covered front patio too.  They are kind of important here in southern Indiana.

By the way, look who's peeking out the back window.  Yep, it's the foreman, also known as Ron, also known as Rondald, or Rescue Ron, or any number of other nicknames he's earned over the years . . . .  but I digress.

And, there he is again, checking out his work no doubt.

It all looks gorgeous to me.

Yep, gorgeous.  Love the stone wall.

I hope you enjoyed today's photos of the building process.  There's more coming soon.

Have a wonderful day, and thanks for stopping by.  Love ya!

Hello Walls!

Hello Friends.  Look, we have walls!  And they're up.  Enough said.

Keep checking back.  There's more going on every day.

The Arrival of Gravel

Hi Friends.  The gravel finally arrived, and I've not seen something this pretty in construction, for a very long time.  Just kidding.  Gravel is not that attractive, really, but when you are using it to fill in space to build up a patio, well, it's kind of special you see.

Look how smooth Ron has the gravel raked out.

Another angle of this beautiful rock.

A close-up, so you can get a real feel it.  Notice the walls are still laying down?  Not anymore.  Not as of yesterday, but that's in the next blog post.

Ron did such a great job on this stone wall too.

This is actually the side yard.  Some of the walls were up.

I just can't wait until this patio is paved, and covered, so we can move in and start enjoying the summer relaxing out here.

In the meantime, do come back by as soon as you can.  We have walls, and the house is starting to look, well, more housely.  I know that's not a word, but it just sounds right.

Hope you all have a terrific day.  See you soon.
