Wall Story

Hi there Friends.  I have a story for you.  It happened last week.  The story goes like this;  Ron built the walls, the excavator knocked them down . . . . accidentally.  lol. Ron rebuilt them.  It looks great.

That foreman is looking bigger then life . . . . which is good because usually life looks a lot bigger.

Surveying everything.

Another story.  Ron put up house walls, and they stayed up.  More going up soon.  Come visit often.  And, have a great week.

The Walls That Ron Built

Hi Friends.  Do I have a blog post for you this morning.  I visited the cottage site, and here's what I found!

Is that Foreman buff or what?!  I think this picture is going up on my wall.

A few guys showed up to help set up the walls.

I've noticed the ax gets used quite a lot in construction.  Who knew.

It's looking great!  I love the walls!

I think someone is going fishing after the work is done.

A shot from the back patio.

And, now, for your viewing pleasure I have added a video with a tour.  Enjoy!  Have a great day.  Love ya all.

The Energizer Builder Just Keeps Building and Building

Hi Friends.  I'm not normally this red but I usually don't use a cell phone camera, so there you go.  Anyway, it is so good to have you here to see the progress.  I'm getting so crazy excited about the walls being built.  We're hoping to put some up soon.  So, stand by.

You are looking from the corner of the guest room, towards the far back corner of the house.

It's that energizer builder again.  He's on the  move.  Oh, and I think he's standing in the middle of the kitchen window which will be above the sink.

Looking across the front of the house.

A shot across the back of the house.

And, just to throw in another view, I shot this pic across the back of the neighbor's lawn.  That's what we'll be looking out across since there are no houses behind us (just a shed, but it's cute).

All in all I'm so happy with how things are going.  I'm also surprised that Ron is moving along on the house so quickly.  What an amazing guy.  Can't wait to see those walls come up.

Have a great day ya'll!

The Walls Are Being Built!

Hi Friends!  I went over to the cottage site and found Ron building walls already.  I'm over the top excited about this!

You can kind of see how they'll look.  This wall (in the foreground) has two windows.  One window is in the laundry room, and the other in the mechanical room.  Yes, Mr. Ron has a mechanical room.  It's a guy thing.

You can see the two windows really well in this shot.  Look how cute they are!  Hmmmm, I need to look at fabric for window treatments.

That's a lot of lumber to saw.  You go Ron!

You can see that the laundry room and mechanical room stick out in front of the house.  The indent piece is the front door.  I can just see southern cottage coming together.  Can you?

Thanks for visiting.  Love having you anytime.  Have a super day.

Quick Update

Hi Friends!  After a weekend trip to Michigan, Ron is back to work laying more stone and finishing up the sub floor.  It looks amazing!

Still a bit muddy, and raining again today, but that doesn't stop this guy.

The view our street.

The view from the street looking at the driveway.

And leaving the project.

Thanks for coming by.  Have a great day.  Love ya!

Cutting The Driveway And Other Exciting Events

Hi Friends.  This was my surprise when I arrived on the work site this morning.  Not the rugged looking handsome foreman, silly. A Driveway!

Is this driveway not gorgeous!

Ron made sure there was plenty of room to get in and out of the garage.

More flooring going down too.

Some of this work is precise, which is precisely why I don't get to help.  lol.

Work continues around the culvert.  You probably noticed our plan is to cover it up.

And you would be right.  Nice job with the stones, Ronald.

And here by the patio too.

The patio from the ravine.

Stay tuned, Friends, because next week the walls will start going up.  So exciting. Have a great day Everyone!

Sticks and Stones; The Work Goes On

Hi Friends.  We were out of town for a few days, and it's been raining, but even still you won't believe what got done today.

108 heavy stones were carried one by one to the ravine.  That's 4,180 ish, or so pounds.  Ron is curled in a ball on the sofa right now, wrapped in a quilt, exhausted.

Some of the subflooring is also down.

More sticks and stones, and mud.

Another view.

And yet another view.  It's a lot of work, but it's going to be beautiful.  It's amazing how much is done already.

Well, thanks for coming by.  Have a great night.

I'm Just So Excited About I-Joist Day.

Hi Friends!  I have no idea what an I-joist is, but I'm excited.  I actually thought this was truss day but then Ron informed me that trusses are totally specifically pieces of engineered Components.  I'm so glad he explained that.  lol.

Meredith's dad Marc came up from southern Indiana to help with the building today.  Ron sure appreciated that.  Made the work go a lot faster.  Thanks, Marc!

As you can see, they've almost got the i-joists in, and soon the sub-floor will go down.  Whooo hoooo!

Sorry this is short, but you can only take so many photos of i-joists (I love writing that).  Just saying.

Love ya all.  Have a great evening.

Rocky Day for Ron

Hi Friends!  I went by the construction site this morning, and this is what I saw, from a distance.  Yikes!  Ron!  Duck!

This truck was shooting rock out.  Why, I ask you?  Why?  I don't pretend to understand the home building process, so I guess I won't worry about the why and just be glad Ron made it out of there alive.

He's out of the way now.  Wheh.  Crazy business this rock shooting.

Take care, everyone.  Come back tomorrow.  Who knows what another day will bring.

My New Love; The Color of Concrete

Hi Friends.  I've been staring at this photo and I can't help it be enthralled with the color of grey, which is the color of concrete, which is what we're looking at here on the garage floor, which is so beautiful and shiny and I can't wait to drive on it.  Okay, I'm a little obsessed.  Sorry.  I'll reign it in right now.  Thanks for loving me anyway.

Steering away from my obsession is this photo of sill plates.  They are not as beautiful as concrete but just as important, so I want to give equal time.

Here's a full view of the house imprint.  You can clearly see the garage in the left front, and the little job inward is the front door, and the room up on the right front is the guest room.  I was just looking at beds for the guest room.  Anyway try out the Ikea daybed that pulls out into a full bed?  I need to know.  I might consider it for this room.  Any thoughts?

I love this!  Here we have the kitchen, living room and master bedroom, going straight back.

There's a pretty good slope off the back of the house.  Oh, well, we're not wanting a big yard.  Just saying.

And, here's another shot of that culvert.  lol.  I do hope you enjoyed all of the pics.

Have a terrific beyond terrific day.  Love ya all.  Please come back.
