Exterior Focus

Paint job is coming along well.  I love the color.  Walks and driveway paved.  We still have to place the blocks.

Walkway from the man door to the front.

And, cutting the cement.

Things are coming along.

Thanks for visiting.  Take care.  Enjoy the beautiful fall weather.  Love ya!

This Is Cool

Hi Friends.  As you can see we have sheet rock up on the walls, and by the time I get this post published, the entire inside of the house will be covered.  It's a beautiful thing, it truly is.

Also, the next time I post all this mess will be gone.

And this, going on outside the house, is really cool.  Since we sit just a tad below street level, Ron is putting in metal drainage pipe at the low point of our driveway, just before the garage.

This is what the pipes look like.  I told you this is cool.  The water runs into these drains which lead to a pipe, which goes under the house and transports the rain water down to the gulley, where it belongs.

So, there you have it.  Thanks again for stopping by.  Love ya!  New stuff going on all the time now, so I'll try to keep up on posts.

Insulation Is Up!

Hi Friends.  Insulation is up, and things are moving so fast that by the time you see this post, I'll have another up.

Ron works fast and furiously.

Besides sweeping the construction site, and doing a little painting, I'm not much use here, except for posing occasionally.  ha.  In this pose I'm standing in the entry of the kitchen pantry.

You all are fabulous for staying with us through this process.  Thanks!  Love and hugs!

We May Have a Run Away Snowball Heading Down Hill!

Good Morning Friends!  As you can see, the sheet rock has arrived.  A few days before that the insulation arrived, and Ron got it up in 2 and 1/2 days time.  He's fast.

Things are happening at a quicker rate now, like an out of control snowball rolling downhill.  In between insulation and sheet rock deliveries has been the inspectors inspecting and passing things like framing, electrical, and rough plumbing.

I love how this looks just inside my front door, and I'm soooo excited that we're moving into phase 4;  Interior walls!

This is inside the master bedroom.

Posing by the dining room windows.  There are a lot of windows on the back side of the house overlooking the lot.  It's very pretty and peaceful.

Side view of the garage.  I love that Ron put windows and a man door on that side.  He's so clever.

Yesterday I picked out lights, tile, and a countertop for our kitchen island.  My cabinets are in, and will be delivered in about two weeks.  Yikes, that means I better pick out my inside paint colors . . . . and soon!

Well, thanks for stopping by again, and for cheering us on throughout the process of building this home.  I have a feeling I'll be back here soon.  Have a great day, y'all.  Love ya!

Gutters Going Up, Dry Wall Scheduled

Oh, my goodness, Hi Friends!  It's the first of October, and we have the gutters going up and dry wall coming.

Those are some long gutters!

We are so excited to get these up.

The grandkids were excited too.

And done.  Yay.  Thanks for stopping by, friends.  Love ya!

The Big One Is Coming!

Hi Friends!  Wow, so we just had all of this insulation delivered.  Believe me, that's not toilet paper!  Ha!  We start insulating walls (inside and out) early next week.  I'm over the top excited!  I keep wandering around the house, trying to visualize how I'll use the space to make a warm, inviting home.

While I was wandering, Ron thought I might as well also visualize sweeping the floors, by cleaning up all of the wood chips that collected all over the place as he drilled holes for plumbing and electrical.

Speaking of electrical, Ron just got a nice comment from a 27 year electrical contractor, who told him his was by far the best diy electrical job he'd ever seen.

I present the electrical box.  I think there are 39 breakers.

He's still at it, but plans are to finish up this week . . . and that's where I tell you what the "Big One" that's coming, is;  It's the plumbing, electrical and framing inspection.  Three inspectors will be arriving on Monday, and we'll either pass and be able to start putting up insulation, or we won't.  After what the electrician recently said, I have high hopes to  moving on to next phase.

And, I put this up because I can't stop looking at it, and enjoying it.  I think this is going to be so pretty.

Well, that's it for now, friends.  Thank you, so much for hanging in there while work is done on the slow, right now.  Recently, one of you (Dirk) mentioned that 5 months goes by quickly.  We both thought about that and were surprised that we've completed so much in such a short time.  Very thankful to God for all of our good health and strength to build this home.  Can't hardly wait until we're in it.  Oh, and I'm grateful that fall has arrived and the weather is cooled down a bit.  We were in the 40's this morning, here in Bloomington.  Brrrrrrr.  It's going to be time to get that hot tub in pretty soon too.

Love ya all.  Have a great week.  See you back here soon!

Windows, Doors, and Arches; The House Is Coming Along

I showed up today to find the excavator moving dirt up to the foundation of the house.

The garage doors have been installed, along with all of the outside doors.  Wasn't a fan of the funny maze of tiny windows here, but that's what happens when you let someone not completely schooled in style and design, order garage doors.  I thought, "no problem, we'll just take out the grid panel".  Well, turns out it is a problem, so they stay.  Oh well.  We have garage doors!  Yahooooo!

I like the look of work being done, so here's another angle of that backhoe moving dirt.

Oh, here's my favorite thing right now.  Ron built a mock-up of the entryway arch, and I love it!

Mock-up materials, just because . . . .

Entryway from the front door.

And, one more shot, through the crab apple tree.  That tree is starting to show evidence of fall.  I love that too.

And that's about it, for now.  Ron is working on electrical after working on rough plumbing, so there's not that much to show yet.  It's all coming along quite nicely though.  Thank you, all, for stopping by again.  Love ya.  Have a great Autumn!
